Abstract

The aim of the work is to compare the efficacy and accessibility of ethamsylate, mefenamic acid, and tranexarnic acid and anthocyanosidic extract of myrtillus in medical treatment of menorrhagia.
Conclusion:
Tranexamic acid (karpon) and mefenamic acid (ponstan forte) given during menstruation are safe and highly effective treatment for excessive bleeding.
Tranexamic acid has a greater role in early and effective reduction of menstrual blood loss, while mefenamic acid had a greater role in reduction of menstrual symptoms.
Patients with dysfunctional uterine bleeding should be offered medical treatment with mefenamic acid or tranexamic acid before a decision is made about surgery. These 2 drugs might be a possible alternative to surgery in menorrhagia.
Mefenamic acid and tranexamic acid have the advantage of being taken during menstrual it self, an aid to compliance, and are particularly useful in those women who either do not require contraception or do not wish to use a hormonal therapy.
