Abstract

Summary and conclusion
Hematological neoplasms are heterogeneous group of diseases with morphological, immunophenotypic and clinical characteristics.
The cytogenic abnormalities can be characterized as a changes involving chromosome number or chromosome structure.
Monosomy 7 and trisomy 8 are two of the most common numerical abnormalities in hematological neoplasia.
The study aimed at studying the lineage involved by the monosomy 7 and the trisomy 8.
The work was performed on 10 patients at diagnosis before initiating therapy: 4 patients with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma:
1 patient with solitary bone plasmacytoma.
1patient with acute non-lymphoblastic leukemia.
1patient with acute lymphoplastic leukemia.
2 patients with chronic myeloid leukemia.
1 patient with chronic lymphatic leukemia.
There was only one case which has AML that had the monosomy 7, mean while only one case which has ALL that had the trisomy 8.
The current study suggests that, monosomy 7 is present only in the myeloid lineages and not present in lymphoproliferative disorders.
