Abstract Aim of the work This study is directed toward the early detection of renal impairment using glomelular filtration rate (G. F. R) as calculated by Cockcroft-Gualt formula in randomly selected attendants on outpatient clinics in Minia university hospital, and their early referral to nephrologist for management. Conclusion In conclusion we recommenr the use of C-G GFR in early detection of renal impairment as its inexpensive, simple method and highten the awareness of primary care physician to the abnormalities in renal function that exist while serum creatinine remain within the normal range. Recommendations 1- Large study of random or even risky patients for early detection of renal impairment. 2- Use of both SCr and GFR as screening methods. 3- Early referral to patients with renal impairment to the nephrology clinics for further investigation, confirmation of renal impairment, starting management and follow up. |
