Abstract Aim of the work To study fluorescein angiographic findings and focal foveal electrophysiologic findings and to correlate between them in cases of age related macular degeneration. Summary and conclusions In this work 20 patients (40 eyes) of AMD were studied by colored fundus photography, fluorescein angiography and focal foveal ERG and results were compared. There was inverse relationship between V/A and percentage of amplitude loss of foveal ERG. Also, positive correlation between prolonged choroidal perfusion and delayed implicit time existed. Combining loss of amplitude, together with delayed implicit time. It was found that foveal ERG can detect AMD in 87.5% of cases diagnosed by fluorescein angiography. These results prove that foveal ERG is a good investigation for detecting AMD. |
