Abstract This study was carried out at the Experimental Poultry Farm, Animal Production Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Minia University to evaluate the nutritive value of dried rumen contents (DRC)and effect of feeding rabbits on diets containing different levels of DRC on productive performance and carcass evaluation of rabbits. Seventy two male and female New Zealand White rabbits of 6 weeks of age were used in this study. Rabbits within each sex were randomly divided into four groups in three replicates with three rabbits each. The control group was fed on dry concentrate mash diet of 17.90% CP and 2592.37 kcal ME/Kg. Sun DRC was used to substitute 5, 10 and 15% of barley in the concentrate mash for the 2nd , 3rd and 4th groups, respectively. Averages of body weight, daily weight gain, feed consumption and feed conversion (g feed/g weight gain) of rabbits at 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 weeks of age as well as mortaility rate during the whole period were recorded. At 16 weeks of age, a digestibility trial was performed to determine the digestibility coefficients of the experimental diets. At the termination of the growing period (16 weeks of age) 12 male rabbits (3 males from each dietary treatment) were slaughtered to study carcass traits. |
