Abstract This thesis deals with studying the removal of toxic hexavalent chromium ions from acidified potassium dichromate solution by using iron cylinder and investigates the extent to which different organic acids (acetic, chloroacetic, dichloroacetic, trichloroacetic, sulphosalicylic, citric and phtlalic acid) affect the oxidation reduction reaction. It also deals with studying the removal of toxic hexavalent chromium ions from potassium dichromate experimental solution using activated carbon as adsorbent. This thesis includes three chapters 1-the first chapter represent introduction which includes the definition of pollution, pollution with metals, toxicity of chromium and methods used for removal of chromium ions as well as the literature survey on the previous work. |
