1- A number of 869 fishes included, 606 O. niloticus, 167 C. gariepinus and 96 C. carpio, of different life stages, were obtained alive from River Nile and their tributaries in Sharkia governorate and Abbassa fish farms. These fishes were subjected to clinical, P.M., parasitological and histopathological examinations.
2- The clinical signs and postmortem findings on the infested fishes with gill parasites were mainly respiratory distress manifestations. Pale and anaemic gills in some infested fish or hyperemic in others with excessive mucous secretion. Some Oreochromis niloticus infested with Lamproglena sp. showed whitish yellow bodies attached to gill filaments. Some Clarias gariepinus infested with Henneguya sp. showed whitish yellow creamy cysts, embedded in accessory respiratory organs and gill arches. While, trypanosomes infected fish revealed none specific signs.
3- The prevalence of the total parasitic infestation was 67.89% among the examined fishes, it was 65.34% among examined O. niloticus (63.95% for wild and 66.37% for .
