Abstract

The present thesis deals with the electrochemical study of 4-aminoquinaldine(AQ) by studying its electro oxidative and catalytic behavior.In this work, we have shown the electrochemical preparation of polymer and dispersion of metallic particles into an organic polymer to improve the electrochemical response.A novel electrode has been described, consisting of copper ions loaded into poly AQ modified platinum electrode, by immersion of the polymeric modified electrode in a copper chloride solution.Cyclic voltammetry technique was used for film formation of 4-aminoquinaldine(AQ)at pt electrode in 0.2M H2SO4 solution.The electro activity of the prepared film was studied in0
.2M NaCl.The electro activity of the prepared film in an acetonitrile solution containing 0.1M LiClO4, were also studied. Also the factors which affected the electro activity and stability of the film formed by this technique such as , the applied potential used , monomer concentration, acid concentration film thichness, were studied in aqueous and non aquenous and non aqueous medium.The effect of loading AQ film in different salts e.g.CuCl2, FeCl3, NiCl2, CoCl2 and ZnCl2 with different concentrations and intervals time was studied. The catalytic behavior of the resulting loaded polymer film for the oxidation of hydroquinone, methanol , propanol and formaldehyde was studied.
