Abstract
Today computer networks have a tremendous effect on our socIety and economy than any other networks whIch have been developed 1 n the pastLocal area networks ( LAN) are specIal case of computer networks lImIted In geographIc scope. It provIdes hIgh bandwIdth overInexpensivetransmIssIon medIa.The need for multiaccess protocols arIses whenever a resource Is shared among a number Of
I ndependent users.In thIs thesIs we suggest a mOdIfIcation of the CarrlerSense MUltlple ACcess Protocol (CSMA/CD )[23). The goal of the mOdified protocol Is to decrease number Of collIsIons suffered by a packet during Its trIal for transmIssIon
Achlevlng this objective means better packet delay and
better throughput characterlstlcs. AnalytIcal and slmulatlon
models were used to stUdy the performance Of the proposed
protOCOl In comparison with other protocols.
