Abstract The objective of this thesis is to introduce a new model to manage TCPIIP based network like Internet; this model is based on the Mobile Agent technology. The Mobile Agent technology has many advantages, which make it very suitable to be used in the Network Management. This thesis is divided into two parts: Part I: Distributed Processing and Agency Concept. This part consists of four chapters, these chapters are: 1. Introduction: this chapter contains the problem definition, goals and strategy, the scope of this thesis, and the structure of the thesis. 2. Agents and Intelligent Agents: this chapter contains an overview of Agent and Intelligent Agent system, what is the software agent, its theories, languages, and its architecture, also it contains an overview of the Intelligence and how our mind agree with this concept. Finally it introduces some application for the intelligent agent. 3. Network Management Fundamentals: this chapter gives fundamental information about the network management concepts, the definition of the network management, and what is its important. It introduces the concepts of network management platform, network management architecture, and network management application. Finally it gives an overview of the OSI management protocol and TMN management protocol. 4. SNMP: The Management Protocol: this chapter introduces the details information about the SNIv1P,the operation of the protocol, the message of the protocol and its format, and the management information base; also it introduces the security concept and the administrative structure for the SNMPv2. Part II: Modem Technologies and Approaches This part consists of four chapters, these chapters are: 5. Mobile Agent andAglets Framework: this chapter introduces the mobile agent concept, its definition, the applications of the mobile agent, the advantage, and disadvantage of the mobile agent. It also introduces the Aglet framework and know how to create a mobile agent system using the aglet, what is the internal structure of the aglet framework, and the security in the aglets system, and finally a brief comparison between the aglet framework and other lava mobile agent .. systems, like Concordia, Voyager, and Odyssey. 6. Common Object Request Broker Architecture (COREA): this chapter contains a basic information about the Common Object Request Broker Architecture known as CORBA, it presents for the OMG’s OMA, the internal structure of the CORBA, CORBA network model, the benefits of the CORBA as it is platform and language independent, and finally it introduces a comparison between the CORBA technology and the Mobile Agent as an approach to be used in the network management 7. Future Work: JINI System: this chapter gives an overview of the lIN! system, what is its components, the key concepts of the JINJ architecture, how the JINT system woks to provide the user with the required service, the joining between the Mobile Agent and the JIN} system as a future work for this thesis. |
