Abstract The present work deals with the hydrotreating processes of Egyptian naphtha stocks (produced from different Egyptian crude oils). Naphtha hydrotreating as a first stage of naphtha reforming platforming process is carefully studied • The main goal of this research is an Optieization/ node11nig one, concerned with the estimation of a set of applicable correlations that can be precisely applied to estimate the optimum operating conditions for hydrotreating the Egyptian naphtha stocks; whatever is the source of its original crude oil. To achieve this goal ,most experimental techniques and correlations available from the literatures were widely and carefully reviewed. The experimental mesurements were carried out using four different naphtha stocks (originated from Marine Balayem, Land Balayem, Ras 5houkair blend, and Morgan crude oils ) containing different sulfur contents ranging from 162 to 640 p.p.m .The reactor used for experimentation is 19 mm diameter and 50 cm height;the catalyst used is that industrially used in Suez Oil Processing Company (S.O.P.C) , called Hydrobon U.O.P 5-12 (Cobalt-Molybdenum catalyst). The parameters concerned in the presented optimization technique were mainly naphtha sulfur content, naphtha yield, and naphtha hydrocarbon chemical composition (P 0 N A).For this goal ,a programed computational models were developed to predict the optimum operating conditions for naphtha hydrotreating processes. For hydrotr~ating the Egyptian naphtha stocks, th~ optimum operating conditions ,for producing high yields of naphtha containing trac~s of sulfur (low~r than 0.5 p.p.m) are : o Temperature , C 2 Pressure , kg/cm -1 L.H.S.V , hr H tHC ratio, m31 2 3 m : 320 : 42 : 5 : 125 Furthermore, for mod~lling such units, nov~l correlations were suggested for predicting the produced naphtha yield, sulfur cont~nt , and ch~mical composition (P 0 N A) as a function of the process operating variables (t, p, L.H.S.V, and H I HC ). 2 The following correlations were among others establishing the produced naphtha characteristics : 1- Yield ,<VOL”>= 131.253-0.079 (t)--o. 765 t p )+0.1 (H IHC) 2 +1.66(L.H.S.V) .
