Abstract This study deals with parallel first-order reactions with different numbers of products,as examples of complex reactions. parallel first-order reactions have an important role in industry. Examples of these reactions are the nitration of benzene derivatives to give ortho-, meta-, and paranitrobenzene derivatives, the dehydration of alcohols to olefins,or the dehydrogenation of alcohols to aldehydes, and the isomerization of a-pinene. The objective of this study, is to develop a computer . program, which computes the values of the rate constants of any parallel first-order reaction giving different products, using the concentration-time data. These values of the rate constants are, in turn, used to calculate theactivation parameters of these reactionsThis study begins by studying parallel fir~i:.-order reactions giving two products.Simulation of parallel first-order reactions giving two products is then performed. |
