Abstract

Training is an attempt to improve employees performance on a currently held job, which involves changes in specific knowledge, skills and attitudes. This study therefore aims at assessing the actual status of travel agencies in Greater Cairo, Category A-regarding the adoption of effective training plans.
It demonstrates the different training approaches, methods and techniques that could be implemented in travel agencies. The study provides suggestions in order to enhance training in travel agencies and emphasize the importance of incorporating the training plans into the strategic plans of the travel agencies.
In order to confirm the theme which this thesis investigated, the researcher had designed some tools using both desk research and field study as follows:
First, the desk research included text books, reports, conference proceedings which included material about training related to the subject of the research.
Second, the field study had been carried out through randomly distributing questionnaire forms to the ’person in charge’ of training in each travel agency.
Travel agencies with various management styles sizes and types of ownership are represented in the sample.
Pie charts were utilized to represent percentage data.
The researcher also utilized chi-square analysis in order to verify the results obtained.
The research stated that all travel agencies represented in the sample-except one item-perform training, yet this training is not conducted methodically and efficiently.
