Abstract Leafcutting bees are considered to be an important pollinator of alfalfa. Artificial nests were prepared for leafcutting bees Megachile spp renesting, by using new foam model contain paper tubes of 5. mm. diameter. These empty nests were transferred to the natural nest sites on the mud walls in El-Tal Elkebeer and El Kasasin as a tarp for attracting bees. Then artificial nests were collected and transferred to the alfalfa experimental field to study their interaction with alfalfa seed production. Results showed that seed production of plants were higher in plants near the shelters than in plants far from shelters. Some fertilization treatments were carried out to study their impacts on the seed production but there is no significant differences were found between all treatments. The maximum bee activity through the day was observed, it was at 1pm, while before and after that time the activity decrease (zero activity was at sunrise and sunset). |
