Abstract Bacteriological examination of 255 chickens with apparently healthy organs revealed the isolation of Cainpylobacters in an incidence of 5.5 % .On typing, Cainpylobacter jejuni was present in an incidence of 5.1 % and Campylobacter coli in an indicence of 0.4 %. Out of 185 diseased chickens, Campylobacter organisms were detected in nineteen cases (10.2%). On typing, Campylobacter jejuni was recovered in a percentage of 8. 6 and Campylobacter coli in an incidence of 1.6 %. Overall incidence was 7.5 %. The younger the chicken age, the lower the percentage of Campylobacter infection. No Campylobacter species could be recovered at the first day of hatch. At the fourth week up to two months of age, the incidence of isolation was lower than at the third up to the sixth months of age. From the beginning of eight to ten months old, the infection reached lower rates of isolation. Bile contents, liver specimens ar.d intestinal contents were the most predilection seats of Campylobacter infection. |
