Abstract One hundred fifty male albino mice were exposed to repeated doses of UVR (UVB and UVA). The animals were exposed to 3 sessions/week for 4 weeks under special lamps emitting either UVA or UVB. The back skin specimens were obtained from the control group (group I) and after 24hr., 48hr., 1, 2, 3 and 4 weeks from the first exposure of the exposed groups to UVB (group II) and UVA group (III). For light microscopic study, skin specimens were taken and processed in paraffin as usual, subjected to H&E, Masson’s trichrome stain for collagen, Orcine for elastin, Wilder’s silver technique for reticulin, combined PAS-Alcian blue technique and immunostaining for laminin of basal lamina. Ultrathin sections were prepared for electron microscopic study. Morphometric studies for epidermal thickness and keratinocyte count were done. Also, statistical studies were performed for evaluation of changes in the weight and morphometric results |
