Abstract The biological process selected to remove the soluble organics in this study is the high-rate plastic-packed trickling filter. the overall treatment processes used rely on the optimization of sewage or any organic wastes treatment via the combined or biological chemical or biological physicochemical techniques to remove both organic and inorganic pollutants. the physical method used is dissolved air flaranon under pressure.to avoid great fluctuation in the nature of the wastes, synthetic sewage has been prepared having the same characteristics of natural sewage in order to test the engineering feasibility of this mode of operation, studies have been conducted using a continuous-flow laboratory scale system consisting of a non-transparent pvc tubes, coupled with a settling basin. the inner surface area of the tube is considered as a vertical plain surface. this biological unit is followed by either a clari-flocculator or a pressurized flotation device. to study the impact of increasing the organic load applied to the biological unit` on the overall efficiency of the combined treatment system. three different organic loads ranging from 2.13 to 2.26 ko bod, M -3` are investigated. the feasibility of natural sewage treatment at an organic load of 3. 15 ko bod 5M’.3-’via this system is also studied |
