Abstract

The purpose of this study was to establish cephalo— metric norms for young Egyptian adults. A random sample of 250 males and 250 females with no missing teeth were studied. To determine the honiogenity or the heterogenity of the population, the original sample was subdivided by sex into geographical distribution, religious social grouping and socioeconomic grouping. Eight cranio—facio—dental measurements were investigated utilizing a statistical approach to compare the difference between the means for each grouping.
Once the homogenity of the population was demonstrated, a single oephalometric norm for Egyptian males and Egyptian females was established and compared to an appropriate American sample. Sexual dimorphism was also considered.
